Valley Track Club Starts ‘Run Club’ For Middle Schoolers

Valley Track Club has started a ‘Run Club’ for middle school student-athletes with the hopes of keeping kids active and getting them outside. The Run Club was developed with former Corban University athlete Hannah Clarizio, who was a distance and steeplechase competitor, joining the team.

“I was a late bloomer when it came to running, but am still fresh to it and love it all the better for it!”  Hannah said in the press release from VTC. “I had never run track until I quit golf and took up running full time half way through my sophomore year in college because I fell in love with the sport”.  

They’re in the middle of their first of two sessions, the first session ending on February 24. The second session starts on March 1 and will end March 29, it cost 25 bucks for the five-week session. The session will include two days of training on Monday’s and Wednesday’s, in-person supervised coaching, socialization with other runners, self-directed running plan and a run club T-Shirt (one per student-athlete)

The self directed running plan will allow for training on the days they do not meet in-person.  It’s a resource that will help prepare those participants wishing for further training to prepare for a competitive Middle School season and USATF Junior Olympic competitions.

To participate in the VTC – Running Club you will need to sign up as an individual member with USATF, and obtain a membership number, the cost for a one year membership is $25.  The membership with USATF is a great way for your student-athlete to become eligible to compete locally, regionally and nationally in a variety of youth events.  Including the USATF Junior Olympic Youth National competitions.  

Valley Track Club is committed to helping our student-athletes return outdoors and be active.  Hannah adds that, for her, this opportunity fulfills her “desire to train athletes that want to give their best with their full heart, mind, and strength as they embrace the lifestyle of being a healthy and elite runner” which fits her love of running “for me, running is so much more about being my personal best, than winning titles, although it is fun.” It is a lifestyle that she wishes to share.
