DALLAS, Ore.– No lead is safe. The Dallas Lady Dragons 14U had to find a way to get it done late against the charging Warriors of Amity Sunday afternoon at the Lyle Sports Complex.
The Dragons jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, jumping on Fawn Trejo as Dallas scored runs off an error and RBI hits from Gracie Walls (single) and Lora Johnson (Sac-fly) to build the lead.
Madi Ruman pitched three-and-two-third innings of no-hit softball, striking out six before handing off to Ava Woods in the fourth inning. Ruman would strike out 12 in the two games for Dallas.
The two squads traded runs in the fourth. A Marti Silacci double got the Warriors on the board before tying the game up in the top half of the fifth inning, drawing bases loaded walks by Ashlyn Felty and Ayla Harris along with a Savannah Brown hit-batter as it came down to the wire.
Up against the time however, Olivia Hubbard would hit the walk-off, inside-the-park, home run to seal the 5-4 victory for the Dragons over Amity. Dallas edge the McMinnville Grizzles in the breakfast game 8-6 behind three RBI’s by Walls, who hit a home run during the contest as the Dragons are riding a three-game winning streak.
The Warriors would rebound in their second-game against Sherwood, taking the game 14-5 to close out the Sunday games in Dallas.
