SILVERTON, Ore.– The driving force of the Silverton Aqua Foxes Girls team has made her decision where she will be going to college.
Marie Tolmanchoff has signed with Whittier College to swim, a NCAA Division-III school in Southern California. Her High School Career included 15 events she had competed in the State Meet over the past four years at Silverton, seven individual events and eight relays.
Of those 15 events at State, Tolmanchoff medaled in nine of them, tying her with teammate Maddie Broyhill for the most ever by an Aqua Fox. Tolmanchoff had finished second in the breaststroke the last two years, fourth and sixth in the 50 freestyle as Head Coach Lucky Rogers described her as the spearhead of this year’s Senior Group.
“Marie has always been the spearhead with this group. She was the one with the biggest belief on what our team could do. Always about the team,” Rogers said of Tolmanchoff. “Marie and this group proved that a small town can be successful in a country club sport. Dedication and Desire made this team what it was. Just proves you can make something happen if you are willing to work at it.
“Definitely the driving force of our team. An amazing career at Silverton High School.”
Tolmanchoff helped lead the Girls 200 Yard freestyle to a State Title, the 200-yard Medley Relay Varsity to a third-place finish at State, was second in the 100-yard breaststroke and sixth in the 50-yard freestyle in 2020 as a Senior
