SALEM, Ore– Sprague knew that they were the underdog and fully embraced that role versus Summit Thursday night. Mix that in with the emotions of Senior Night and anything is possible.
The Lady Olympians took the first two sets 25-23, 25-22 and held a 23-18 lead on the Storm before the fifth-ranked Summit squad in front of them cut to three two plays later.
Sprague called timeout and the Olys came to the bench, they needed to take a breather before they went out as the Student Section chanted “Oly Power”. Their Coach told
Sprague got game point as the Student Section was about to explode if the Olympians got this next point.
Sprague served, it bounced around as Bridgett Smith sent a bullet to the back line to send her Seniors off with an incredible 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 sweep of the Storm to force a tie at the top of the Mountain Valley Conference Standings with three league games remaining.
And the emotions from this game, showed that the Olympians could and can compete with what this game showed them Thursday evening.
“She told us that, ‘You guys got it…you guys can do it’. It’s crazy, we wanted to do it for our Seniors and it was just amazing,” described Smith coming out of the timeout to the final point scored. “Just know that there is no limit and keep pushing and we already achieved our biggest game and everything can come from that .”
The Olympians currently sit 15-5 overall as they travel to the Clearwater Classic Saturday at Bend.
