SALEM, Ore.– The choice to go to Chemeketa Community College was a good choice said Sean Alvarado on his decision to commit to the Storm beyond this season at South Salem as the Senior Saxon hopes the two-years beyond this season will help him develop more into a strong baseball player.
“Well I have been talking with several D2 and D3 colleges this past year, I felt that Chemeketa will give me a few more years to develop into the player I want to be,” said Alvarado on the decision. “After speaking with New Head Coach JJ Mascolo, I believe in his Coaching style and know that I will be in good hands. I was able to play with him during Baseball NW, and felt that our approach to the game is similar.”
Playing with SWAT Baseball as well during the school off-season too with the combination of Baseball NW has helped him compete with and against College Athlete’s while getting in front of the college scouts.
And as Alvarado enters his Senior season, the Pitcher/Outfielder who garner First-Team All-GVC Honors in the Outfield, he’s been working hard in order to prepare him to help South Salem to get back to the 6A State Semi-Final round and possibly into the State Championship this upcoming season.
“I’ve been working out everyday, I want to show up ready for my team. I’ve been working with The Iron Gorillas here in Salem. They are owned by Antonio Gutierrez, Look Them Up they are insane. They are pushing me to be strong, faster, and have a great approach to weight training,
“Well we lost the best catcher in Oregon, Aaron Zavala. We have a lot of guys coming back, and we are scrappy. We have a lot of 1st team guys returning, and we have a few strong hitters with Ryan Brown, and Danny Alvarado. I think we will be good this season.”
