White Named Girls Head Coach At McKay

By Jeremy McDonald

SALEM, Ore.–  The wait to name the successor to Arthur Horton III has come to an end.

McKay named Jim White the Head Coach of the McKay High School Girls Basketball team after spending the past three years as Head Coach at Scio High School  where he went 25-44 and 16-20 in the PacWest Conference that featured his teams going up against Blanchet Catholic (Sweet 16, 2016 State Champions, third-place) and Salem Academy (second-, third-, second-place in 3A) as the front-runners.

White’s Lady Loggers teams reached the decisive win-and-your-in-games to get to the Field of 16 in the PacWest Conference League Playoffs before falling to Colton in 2015 and Gervais in 2016.

Having experienced in both boys and girls basketball along with youth sports over the last 25-plus years, White hopes to bring in the same intensity, passion and energy as he has through his years of coaching as he faced with his next big challenge in taking over the Lady Scots program this winter.

“I bring hard work and dedication and fun,” said White.  “I know what it takes to be successful from all the schools I have coached and the work it will take, on the court and in the class room. (I) want them to be successful in both!”
