AURORA, Ore.– It wasn’t the best game for the eighth-graders of Talmadge Middle School to start the game versus North Marion Middle School as turnovers lead into points as the Wolfpack led the Cougars by one entering the halftime break.
Emilio Estrada help lead the charge for North Marion on both sides of the ball.
“The first half I thought we did really well, we were up by one at the end,” starts Estrada of the first-half. “We were pushing it, getting turnovers and having good defense.”
As the game entered it’s last 16 minutes, Talmadge began to pull away as Adrien Barba’s lay-in made it a 42-35 Cougs lead as they led 49-43 after the third as they pushed the lead to double-figures by games end thanks to Barba and Brooks Ferguson leading the way.
“Well I turned my horses loose and I had Barba and Brooks and they were monsters and they ran a nice little three-two, 1-2-2 trapping and they did some really nice things against us,” said Talmadge Head Coach Keith Omlid on how the team did in the second half after a slow start in the opening half.
