HILLSBORO, Ore.– Against the 23-1 Sheldon Irish, Sprague jumped out to a 24-19 first set lead over the number 3 team in 6A; but the Irish would rally and would stun the Lady Olys by taking the opening set 26-24.
Sprague will continue to battle hard over the next two sets, including a hard fought third set to try to extend the match beyond three-sets, Sheldon however, would deny them of such an opportunity, completeing the sweep Friday morning.
The Olympians though, still have a chance for fourth, as does rival South on the other side of the bracket (8am versus #4 Jesuit), at 8am against Glencoe to get to the noon match for the fourth-place trophy.
SOUTH SALEM- The Saxons too had a challenge in the Elite 8 Friday morning at 8am, taking on top seed Southridge. South pushed the Lady Skyhawks to overtime before falling 27-25 in the opening set, but couldn’t duplicate their first set success against Southridge, falling in both sets 25-16, 25-16 to fall into the consolation bracket.
