SALEM, Ore.– With a chance to climb back into the tournament, the North Salem Viking Baseball team came out against Newberg aggressively by taking a 1-0 lead with strong at-bats and strong defense with Dylan Ebbs on the bump for North.
“We started off really good in the beginning,as we went on, we got a little tired, The heat got us a bit,” “but I think it was mental errors that wrong.”
Those mental errors allowed a very good hitting Newberg team to turn a 1-0 deficit entering the bottom of the third into a 4-1 lead entering the fourth before the Vikings stranded two in scoring position as Newberg tacked on seven more runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 11-1 victory in five innings from the host North Salem team Sunday morning.
“I was very frustrated because it kept happening over and over and you know, you got to forget it and you want to keep moving on,” said Ebbs on the frustrations of the game at hand.
The Vikings will be back at it Tuesday when they travel to Crescent Valley for a 5pm first pitch with the Raiders.
